At BLP, we believe it is our responsibility to give back to the society. In view of this, we constantly engage in quite a number of activities designed to develop and support the communities around us. Specifically, we support the community through pro bono and charitable activities.
BLP Pro Bono Scheme
In line with our believe and practice of promoting the tenets of our profession, we render free legal services to indigent individuals and not-for-profit organizations. We encourage our lawyers to take up pro bono matters frequently and also provide the required support and resources for them to efficiently prosecute the matters. Beyond the firm, we also finance pro bono cases handled by some of our professional colleagues in other law firms and organizations. Additionally, we work with the Nigerian Bar Association to render legal services on pro bono basis.
Hope for Indigent Nigerian Students (HINS)
At BLP, we believe education is key to building great leaders who will ultimately transform the society. With the high level of poverty in the country, most families are unable to afford school fees for their children. Sometimes, these young persons that are adversely affected by their parents’ inability are very intellectually sound but end up in the street. In an attempt to arrest this ugly predicament, BLP, through its Foundation, HINS, provides scholarships to indigent Nigerian students across the country. Our scholarship programme covers primary, secondary and university education. We carefully select beneficiaries of our scholarships through various tests, thereby affording them the opportunity to have formal education.
Support to Foster Homes
At BLP, we do not forget those in foster homes. It is an integral part of our practice to celebrate with the children in foster homes. We regularly send gift items and cash to them on red letter days. We also encourage and support our lawyers to celebrate their birthdays with them. By this way, we do not only give them a sense of belonging to them, but hope to excel in the society. Some of these children also benefit largely from our scholarship programme.
