Introduction

As one of the leading law firms in Nigeria, Bosker Law Practice is committed to protecting and respecting the privacy of information received from its clients or collected by persons who visit its websites. We treat and keep all personal data collected from clients and other users of our websites strictly confidential.

This Privacy Policy is therefore intended to adequately explain how we may collect and use any of your personal information, and your rights in relation to that information.  It also sets out how to contact us if you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or want to make a complaint to us about how we handle your personal information.

This Policy applies to all personal data processed by BLP and is part of our approach to compliance with Data Protection and Privacy Laws and principles. All our staff are expected to comply with this policy and failure to comply may lead to disciplinary action for misconduct, including dismissal.

At BLP, we process personal data in compliance with the data protection law applicable in Nigeria as well as all other applicable international Data Protection Laws and Policies. In processing your personal data, we ensure that:

Type of Information We Collect

We collect, retain, use and transfer different type of information about you. This information includes:

  1. Personal Information such as name, gender, title, marital status, age, nationality, state of origin and date of birth
  2. Background Information provided to us during recruitment process such as employment history, previous salary, schools attended, qualifications, organization, previous positions, appointment history etc.
  3. Contact Information such as email address, fax and phone number(s), office and residential addresses
  4. Technical Information:This includes internet protocol (IP) address, your login data, browser type and version, time zone setting and location, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform, and other technology on the devices you use to access this website
  5. Marketing and Communications Dataincludes your preferences in receiving marketing from us and our third parties and your communication preferences.
  6. Confidential Information: provided to us by or on behalf of our clients or generated by us in the course of providing legal services;
  7. Usage Information: This includes information about how you use our website, products and services.

How We Collect Your Data

We collect your data when:

  • We render legal services to you
  • During our recruitment process
  • You engage us on our social media platforms

How we Use Your Personal Data

At BLP, we use personal data of clients or web users when they consent, when it is necessary for their interest or incompliance with a legal obligation.

Data Retention

At BLP, we retain personal data for a reasonable period to fulfil the purposes for which we collected it. Such personal data is immediately deleted once it is no longer reasonably required for the purpose for which it was collected or consent has been withdrawn. However, we may retain your personal data for a longer period in the event that we are legally required or otherwise authorized to continue to hold such data.

Third Party Sites

While on our website, other sites or links may pop up. Such sites are controlled by third parties and BLP has no control over the materials and activities in those sites. Our website does not incorporate any materials appearing in such sites, and we do not sponsor or endorse such sites and the materials therein. We do not accept any responsibility for their use of your personal information.

Your personal information may be transferred from one location to another, within and outside Nigeria.  Where we share or transfer your personal data, we will do this in accordance with applicable data protection laws and will take appropriate steps to ensure it is protected.

We may also disclose your personal information to third parties in appropriate circumstances.   • request that we restrict the processing of your personal information; and
  • object to the processing of your personal information.

  • withdraw consent at any time where we are relying on consent to process your personal data

At BLP, we respond swiftly to request in exercise of the data protection rights enumerated above. We process all requests within one (1) month without any delay.

Review of Privacy Policy

BLP reserves the right to regularly review and update this Privacy Policy as it deems necessary. This Policy comes into effect on the 1st November 2018 and shall be regularly monitored and updated.
